Opportunity: 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Isolation Works Planner. 

We are looking for Isolation Works Planners that can provide planning management and support to both the pre-contract and contract operations for the business and coordinate with bid and construction teams to manage and control the planning and programming aspects of bid proposals and projects in progress.

Responsibilities: 

As an Isolation Works Planner you will:

  • Produce fully logic linked design, procure and construct tender programmes
  • Produce and assist in the production of tender logistics plans, method statements, and temporary works (TW) schedules
  • Engage with supply chain and team members to discuss and achieve optimum programme and method solutions
  • Assist project managers with onsite planning and reporting requirements
  • Produce robust fully logic linked design, procurement, construction and commission tender programmes compliant with tender sum, design (where appropriate) and methodology without assistance for small to medium sized projects
  • Produce tender deliverables as required (agreed at tender kick off meeting)
  • Work with allocated operations support in the production of method statement and scaffold schedule etc. and ensure that programme reflects agreed methods
  • Produce (or lead if outsourced) logistics plans / phasing plans
  • Ensure all deliverables are produced to the agreed Tender Activity Programme (TAP) timescales to ensure they are available to other members of the tender team in good time
  • Engage with supply chain and team members to discuss and achieve optimum programme and method solutions
  • Attend all tender meetings incl. settlement if required
  • Identify, communicate and add key programme risks to the risk register
  • Take tender programmes for small to medium sized projects and in collaboration with site and/or project manager develop target and master programmes, fully logic linked with baseline 

Already experienced as an Isolation Works Planner, you will be educated to professional level (HNC or equivalent) in a core business discipline.  You will have a thorough understanding and experience in the use of project management software and experience in programme and project management, project planning, including programme controls, project review, and cost and risk analysis. It is essential that you have experience of being a planner within the construction industry. 

About our Rail & Electrification Team 

Our customers benefit from the multi-disciplined service we offer in the high speed and underground rail sectors with expertise covering electrification and civil engineering as well as building capabilities including structures, lineside infrastructure, station enhancements and new build.

Our team consists of more than 275 staff - including safety critical staff certified up to engineering supervisor competence level. We work across the UK and Scotland with offices in London, Ware, Rugby, Stoke and Glasgow.

We are a leading provider of construction and isolation services to the rail industry, offering design and build 25kv overhead line and light rail electrification systems, complemented by our own fleet of specialist rail plant. 

Our Electrification team provides services across the UK, with a base in Ware, Hertfordshire supported by a specialist electrification training centre and plant depot at Swynnerton, Staffordshire, and Scotland depot at Larkhall, South Lanarkshire. 

Our expertise is focused not only on effective project delivery but also on minimising railway user and environmental disruption through innovative working practices.  These include ‘live launch’ bridge construction - where bridges are installed while railways beneath remain operational and ‘offline’ construction and modularisation techniques within stations.
