Site Agent (Civils)

Location - Helensburgh

 

Important:  You must be a UK Sole National and either hold or be able to gain SC level Security Clearance. We are unable to accept applicants that have not resided and worked in the UK for the past 3 years.

Description

 

As a Site Agent you will ensure the successful delivery of projects to scope, target cost, quality, programme, and completion encompassing engineering, construction, handover, and commercial aspects ensuring Perfect Delivery is achieved. 

You will be responsible for all safety, health, environment, and quality matters including driving excellence and championing continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement project execution strategies with a cross-functional project team to ensure the successful delivery of projects in line with company policies and established goals.
  • Define package scope and work with the procurement team to identify and select an appropriate supply chain to complete the works.
  • Identify, implement, and comply with safety, environmental, and quality procedures, relevant legislative, and Nuclear Safety / regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide clear direction to the design and construction teams.
  • Administer NEC4 Contracts utilising CEMAR contract management software.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on all engineering aspects of the project, calling upon relevant discipline subject matter experts as required.
  • Manage the construction of engineering works, including, methodology, sequence, logistics, drainage, utilities, concrete works, steel work, all associated access, lifting and commissioning strategies.
  • Ensure that all works conducted comply with relevant industry standards and specifications, Employer Requirements, and facility Nuclear Safety requirements.
  • Report regular project progress and manage risks and issues, taking necessary action as required.
  • Administering change management for the main contract works and subcontract packages.
  • Provide monthly programme updates with an appropriate narrative identifying any change.
  • Consult with clients and stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met.
  • Contribute to staff planning, recruitment and management of a team of 5-10 people.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the site team.
  • Implement a full risk and value engineering management process where all risks and cost savings opportunities are identified and actioned. 
  • Ensure that project specific requirements are clearly communicated and understood throughout the project and to others, as appropriate. 
  • Provide direction, motivation and leadership to both internal staff and partner contractors engaged in providing technical support activities to the project. 
  • Implement the appropriate Morgan Sindall management, monitoring and control mechanisms, policies and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to statutory and legal requirements and manage the site risks and opportunities in line with company procedures. 
  • Manage the appropriate costs within the contracts, ensuring maximum utilisation of resources. 
  • Coach and motivate the site team and lead by example. 
  • Continually review suppliers’ performance and share information. 
  • Ensure all services and installations are installed and certified to the required standards and that all functions are carried out in appropriate manner. 
  • Ensure that project costs are rigorously managed and expenditure is always recorded accurately. 
  • Review and approve project management plans, health and safety plans, environmental work package plans (WPPs), safe method of work plans (SMOWS) and Plant Modification Procedures (PMPs).
  • Ensure efficient management of the Company's resources, employees, suppliers and subcontractors. 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience of working on a Nuclear Regulated Site (minimum 6 Months)
  • Proven expertise in the construction of engineering works, including earthworks, drainage, utilities, and roadways.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possession of a valid driving license.
  • Previous experience delivery projects in a nuclear environments or similar highly regulated environments. (desirable)

Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • SMSTS 5-day certification and relevant industry-specific qualifications. (desirable)
  • Strong commercial and contract management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and deliver complex projects successfully.
