The Project:

The Eastern Highways Alliance (EHA) is a group of 11 local authorities in the east of England. Its aim is to support the EHA Members to achieve better quality highway, public realm and infrastructure schemes at lower cost by combining and sharing resources. The EHA Members have agreed that this is best achieved by implementation of best practice principles. They are looking for partners who support this vision with a streamlined supply chain as well as building the skills of EHF2’s supply chain to support delivery.

The Framework is valued at £750 million over a four year period. The Framework started in April 2016. Since the start of 2017 the pipeline of opportunities has grown and currently Contractors have visibility of approximately £450 million of Projects.

Morgan Sindall is the most successful Contractor on the framework having been awarded three projects with a combined project value of £22 million. A further £50 million over four Projects is currently being tendered (July 2017) and it is envisage that this level of tender opportunity will continue through 2018 and 2019.

Opportunity: 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Site Agents to work on our Eastern Highways Framework.

We are looking for Site Agents who will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers’ objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. Previous Highways & General Civils experience would be advantageous, equally we would welcome applicants from a Rail or other Heavy Civils background. 

This would be the ideal role for an experienced Sub Agent (or similar) to take that step up into a Site Agent role.

Responsibilities: 

As a Site Agent you will:

  • Ensure accurate implementation of all engineering controls and compliance with the contract drawings and specification
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of the works
  • Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
  • Manage site activities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget

Already experienced as a Site Agent, you will have an understanding and knowledge of NEC 3 conditions of contract, collaborative working and Programme Management. You will hold a relevant industry qualification and a CSCS card.

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
