Role: Commercial Manager

Salary: £ 55,000 - £ 60,000 per annum plus generous benefits

Morgan Sindall Property Services is the service division of the £2 billion Morgan Sindall Group. We work with a wide variety of public and private sector clients and specialise in the full range of facility management and responsive repair and maintenance activity. Our main areas of expertise include: building management systems, day-to-day responsive repairs, facilities management, void property refurbishments, insurance activity, programmed maintenance, and electrical and gas installations, servicing and repairs.

 

About The Role

The purpose of the role is to take the lead and manage all pre and post contract commercial activities within the Region, ensuring that commercial opportunity is optimised and converted as appropriate, safeguard the cultivation of long term effective trading relationships, play a key role in the development of business strategy and ensure that at all times in the conduct of the Region’s activities, the Company’s Commercial Standing Instructions (CSI) are strictly adhered to.

You will be responsible for the effective commercial control of the Region and participate as a member of the Regional Management Team. You will contribute to tender appraisal, bid strategy and adjudication ensuring commercial opportunity is optimised. You will take responsibility to identify any commercial threats to the business and ensure debt/ WIP is kept to an absolute minimum.

We will be looking for the successful person to support and develop our existing Quantity Surveyors and be on hand to assist them when required.

The successful candidate must be willing to be geographically mobile as regular travel & occasional overnight stays will be required. You will have responsibility for employees and commercial activities on our contracts based in South Wales, Dorset, Somerset, Oxfordshire and West Surrey and will be expected to travel occasionally to our London and Sheffield offices. Your base office location may be any of these locations, depending on your home location, although you will spend time in all of the regional branches on a regular basis.

  • A highly competitive salary up to £ 60,000

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in a strategic senior commercial role, particularly within the property services, insurance repairs or similar related industry. Ideally, you will have experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level. You must have experience either working as a Commercial Manager or a significant amount of Senior / Managing Quantity Surveying experience to be considered for this post.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of working closely with operational teams to agree budgets, enhance profitability through tangible action plans and evidence of developing and mentoring a team of commercial staff within the region.  You will have excellent interpersonal skills and deliver effective interaction with all members of the Regional and Senior Management Teams. You will have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders and ensure best practice prevails throughout the Region’s activities.

You may have experience of the following: Quantity Surveying, Commercial lead, Budget and Forecasting, Commercial Management, Project Strategy, Commercial Issues, , Property Services, Facility Management, Construction, Building Management Systems, Procurement, Risk Management, Asset Capitalisation.
