Role: Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager

Salary: £ 55,000 - £ 60,000 per annum plus generous benefits

Based: South Wales & South West England

Morgan Sindall Property Services is the service division of the £2 billion Morgan Sindall Group.  We work with a wide variety of public and private sector clients and specialise in the full range of facility management and responsive repair and maintenance activity. Our main areas of expertise include: building management systems, day-to-day responsive repairs, facilities management, void property refurbishments, insurance activity, programmed maintenance, and electrical and gas installations, servicing and repairs.

About The Role

The purpose of the role is to manage the day to day financial, cost control and reporting of a number of projects up to and including completion of client and sub contract final accounts, recovery/discharge of all retentions and completion of archive material. The area to be managed includes .

You will be responsible for the effective commercial control of all allocated projects including provision of timely and accurate documentation in accordance with the Surveying timetable, in particular Monthly Cost/Value Reports, all elemental reconciliations, cash flow forecasts, etc. and participate as a member of the Regional Management Team.

You will contribute to tender appraisal, bid strategy and adjudication ensuring commercial opportunity is optimised. You will take responsibility to identify any commercial threats to the business and ensure debt/ WIP is kept to an absolute minimum. You will also take the lead to establish appropriate targets/rates and re-measurement/evaluation of subcontractor/labour only/direct labour outputs. We will be looking for the successful person to support and develop our existing Quantity Surveyors and be on hand to assist them when required.

The successful candidate must be willing to be geographically mobile as regular travel & occasional overnight stays will be required. You will have responsibility for employees and commercial activities on our contracts based in South Wales, Dorset, Somerset, Oxfordshire and West Surrey and will be expected to travel occasionally to our London and Sheffield offices. Your base office location may be any of these locations, depending on your home location, although you will spend time in all of the regional branches on a regular basis.  

Package

  • A highly competitive salary up to £ 60,000

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in a senior / managing quantity surveyor / commercial role, particularly within the property services or similar related industry. You will have experience of leading the commercial function and demonstration effective cash management of the project.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and deliver effective interaction with all members of the project & regional management team. You must be able to demonstrate experience of working closely with operational teams to agree budgets, enhance profitability through tangible action plans and evidence of developing and mentoring a team of quantity surveyors within the region. You will have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with the client, employer’s representative and supply chain.
