Lovell Scotland are looking to recruit a Quality Control Manager to join the team based in Glasgow.

The Scottish business is in a growth phase with plans to enhance stability with the inclusion of private development sites into our portfolio to compliment the already well established Lovell revenue streams of contracting and partnership developments.

The position of Quality Control Manager is a newly created role, with key responsibilities to develop, support, embed and manage quality delivery procedures within the business

The role will have a focus on quality delivery across the region with responsibility for developing and implementing quality delivery strategies and company requirements. The role includes the management of quality from design through construction to handover with key input into associated processes and functions including document management, assurance, handover and after sales.

Quality always begins from day one, and you will be heavily involved in the development process from site inception to completion. The role will involve regular and consistent visits to our sites (predominantly within Central Scotland but some further afield).

Ideally you will have an organized and practical approach and the ability to build strong relationships, working closely with both project teams and our supply chains to constantly improve the quality function.

Key responsibilities include: 

Pre-Construction:

  • Review tender documents/drawings and report on quality risks, highlight applicable quality alerts.
  • Provide support to designers, both in-house and external.
  • Engage with our suppliers and manufacturers to put quality at the forefront of all procurement decisions. 

During Construction:

  • Ensure that there is an efficient process in place for managing the clearance of defects in a timely manner, with the ultimate goal of delivering product that is defect free.
  • Carry out regular site audits across the business to ensure that it is proceeding in accordance with the quality delivery process.
  • Defects are being recorded, cleared and signed off within suitable time scales.
  • The works are being installed in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Carry out regular inspections on all projects across the business. 
  • Raise awareness and support the creation of a defect free culture. 
  • Support the project teams in arranging for technical training and quality inspections where appropriate. 

Post Construction:

  • Be the main point of contact with the customer for all private development sites and liaise with the customer on quality issues and agree ways to resolve.
  • Prepare reports to enable analysis of quality performance. 

Continual improvement :

  • Pro-actively participate in the identification of process improvements.
  • Actively look for new approaches, best practices or technologies in conjunction with others  and where appropriate take these through to implementation.
  • Seek customer/stakeholder satisfaction feedback and put in place corrective action plans as necessary.
  • The use of measurement and analytical processes to identify opportunities which add value to the business.
  • To develop, support, embed and manage the quality delivery procedures, guidance and initiatives to ensure quality is a key component and is fully integrated into all aspects of the business.

You should be educated to HNC level as a minimum in an associated field with prior customer facing, quality control and technical experience being essential requirements. You must have excellent IT and written, verbal and listening communication skills.

You must be reliable and flexible and able to act on your own initiative and should be self-motivated and pro-active in your approach to your work. You must have demonstrable planning and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
