Opportunity:

 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our head office for an ambitious and talented Buyer.

 

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated procurement professionals.

 

You will procure materials, goods and services for projects across the UK. You will report to the central procurement manager and be part of a team of buyers working on a range of procurement including setting up projects with call off orders, transactional procurement with trading partners, supporting procurement managers on projects and building relationships with key suppliers. You will be expected to procure to the commercial advantage of the company and with effective communication skill, achieving the budget, programme and the quality required.

 

Previous experience in a Construction or Civil engineering procurement role is essential.

Responsibilities:

 

As a Buyer you will:

  • Purchase materials to specification
  • Ensure supply to programme
  • Maximise profitability and minimise risk
  • Help achieve Perfect Delivery
  • Maintain existing and develop supply base
  • Promote improvements to and ensure compliance with safety, health, sustainability and quality requirements and expectations
  • Ensure compliance of materials and services to specification
  • Maintain and utilise standard documentation
  • Adhere to “Delegated Authorities”
  • Comply with group and business unit supply chain
  • Prepare and issue reports as required

 

 

As an experienced buyer looking for development, you will be working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) (or equivalent qualification, knowledge, skills and training).  You will also have proven capability purchasing materials within a procurement function, within construction or traditional civil engineering sectors. Experience of COINS is beneficial but not essential as training and support will be provided.

 

 

About the Team:

 

The central procurement team is made up of 11 buyers and 4 database administrators working across all sections of Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure business.

This includes the low value procurement of materials and plant and the efficient, effective management of the central supplier database.
