Opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Aviation business for an ambitious and talented Maintenance Manager (Engineering) within the Q6 Framework at Heathrow Airport. 

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of around 200 employees who are passionate and dedicated. 

We are looking for Maintenance Manager (Engineering) who will be a key member of the Engineering and Facilities team, the Maintenance Manager (Engineering) is responsible for managing the technician team and continually improving the level of asset performance for all business partners and customers, developing the team so that targets are met and exceeded by maximising system availability in line with operational requirements.  Also accountable for driving performance, standards and efficiencies through leading by example, inspirational management and proactive innovation whilst ensuring all work streams adhere to company standards and are compliant with the latest company, legislative, statutory and environmental requirements, resulting in an engineering service delivery and operational support that meets and exceeds KPI and stakeholder expectations

Responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Manager (Engineering) you will be:

Accountable for the ongoing management of Health & Safety, Security & Environment for the respective business unit including, but not limited to:

  • Adherence to the Life Safety Systems maintenance activities through the direct labour resource to ensure best practice is applied in line with statutory requirements and current regulations
  • Adherence to the Electrical Systems maintenance activities through the direct labour resource including the timely completion of all SI’s
  • Taking a lead role in the business unit Engineering H&S meetings ensuring a good working relationship with all key H&S stakeholders such as the Trade Union
  • Support the agreed permit management activities for all assets, ensuring continuous ongoing reviews of the process to drive improvement
  • Leading the safety culture through supporting the management of the accident, incident and near miss management systems, supporting the Maintenance Manager (Compliance) as required
  • Undertaking reviews of processes and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with a view to recommending / implementing continuous improvements and drive standards to best practice
  • Supporting the capture of management information and appropriate reporting

Provide line management to a team of Duty Engineers and indirect line management to a team of Technicians and Facility Inspectors including:

  • Mentoring, development and support
  • Ensuring required performance reviews are completed
  • Ensuring relevant training for the Duty Engineer is completed to meet the needs of the business
  • Operational management of Duty Engineer and resource coordination as required
  • Compliance to the working time directive and assessment of any breaches
  • Ensuring that the team adhere to procedures and reduce risk where practicable

Already experienced in a similar role, you will have a proven track record of leading large engineering teams in an operational environment. You will hold a City and Guilds, ONC/HNC or above in an appropriate Engineering discipline, and ideally have full and assessed knowledge of any relevant National or HAL regulations or standards.

Morgan Sindall is 1 of 4 Delivery Integrators working at Heathrow Airport within the Q6 Framework.  Our works are focused around the Airside / Landside Lot and cover a large portfolio of projectors working at Heathrow Airport within the Q6 Framework.  Our works are focused around the Airside / Landside Lot and cover a large portfolio of projects that include civil engineering, mechanical and electrical and building works throughout the footprint of Heathrow Airport.  We have a long history of successfully delivering works at Heathrow Airport and our reputation has been founded upon this.  We have over 200 employees, including a direct labour force delivering these projects and a well-developed and trusted supply chain.  We have a plan for long term growth year on year and this is underpinned by our recruitment programme, including experienced managers, a graduate recruitment process and also strengthening of our self-performing capabilities through investment in apprentices.  Looking forwards there is even greater opportunities at Heathrow Airport within the next expansion plans and further afield the 3rd runway development.
