Opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Aviation business for an ambitious and talented Tunnels Operations Manager within the Q6 Framework at Heathrow Airport. 

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of around 200 employees who are passionate and dedicated. 

The Tunnels Operations Manager will plan, direct and coordinate all the Heathrow Cargo Tunnel operations (maintenance and construction) during the planned refurbishment construction works. The Tunnels Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining the Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR) and the tunnels operational status at all times and for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. The Tunnels Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining and updating all Tunnel related safety documentation in line with Heathrow Airport’s requirements.

Responsibilities:

As a Tunnels Operations Manager you will be:

  • Subjected to Heathrow Airport security check and pass to ensure Heathrow Airport airside access.
  • Proven work experience as a Tunnel Operations Manager (or similar relevant role) and an understanding of Safety principles in a tunnel environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of H&S in a tunnel environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of construction principles and constraints in a Tunnel environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of maintenance principles and constraints in a Tunnel environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Stakeholder interface experience.
  • Leadership and organisational skills and experience.
  • Staff management experience.
  • IT skills (MS Office, databases, etc.)
  • Familiar with the Heathrow IT systems that will be engaged during the construction process, such as: CEMAR, DOCUMENTUM, MAXIMO & HEART.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the Clients’ organisation and stakeholders.

Already experienced in a similar role, you will hold a BSc in civil, electrical, mechanical or other relevant engineering discipline, you will also be a member of civil, electrical, mechanical or other relevant engineering institution.

About the Heathrow Team:

Morgan Sindall is 1 of 4 Delivery Integrators working at Heathrow Airport within the Q6 Framework.  Our works are focused around the Airside / Landside Lot and cover a large portfolio of projectors working at Heathrow Airport within the Q6 Framework.  Our works are focused around the Airside / Landside Lot and cover a large portfolio of projects that include civil engineering, mechanical and electrical and building works throughout the footprint of Heathrow Airport.  We have a long history of successfully delivering works at Heathrow Airport and our reputation has been founded upon this.  We have over 200 employees, including a direct labour force delivering these projects and a well-developed and trusted supply chain.  We have a plan for long term growth year on year and this is underpinned by our recruitment programme, including experienced managers, a graduate recruitment process and also strengthening of our self-performing capabilities through investment in apprentices.  Looking forwards there is even greater opportunities at Heathrow Airport within the next expansion plans and further afield the 3rd runway development.
