Assistant Engineer

Assistant Engineer - Whitehaven

Sellafield Ltd has selected Morgan Sindall in joint venture with Arup as its preferred delivery partner for a potential £1.1 billion contract to provide a range of essential infrastructure asset services to the Sellafield site.

Main purpose of role

As assistant engineer you will assist with ensuring that the development of the project proceeds efficiently, in accordance with the programme and within the budgeted costs

Main responsibilities of the role

·      Site supervision of on-site M&E trades operatives

·      Management and delivery of site induction programmes

·      Ability to handle situations and problems

·      Provide support to project and construction managers

·      Familiarity with CHP/THP and associated process plant i.e. de-watering, boiler / steam generation equipment

·      Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team

·      Ability to manage given lists of tasks

·      Support on-site design teams in production of design documentation

·      Procurement support to M&E project teams

Skills and experience required

·      Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng)

·      Experience working on a construction site with site supervision experience

·      Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations

·      Excellent communication and people skills

·      Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality

·      Ability to develop friendly and professional customer focused relations with others

·      Good management skills, with the ability to motivate employees to achieve high standards of compliance

·      Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook
