IFA-2  Interconnexion France-Angleterre 2 

A proposed 204-kilometre (127 mi) long 1,000 MW HVDC cable between Tourbe in France and Daedalus Airfield, near Southampton in the United Kingdom. At each end there is to be a HVDC converter station built to convert the transported DC current into AC for use in the respective local grids.

Morgan Sindall’s scope is to carry out the design and build civil works associated with the UK converter station build at Daedalus including but not limited to:

  • Enabling works
  • Roadwork’s & footpaths
  • Security fencing and lighting
  • Drainage
  • Earthing
  • Building Construction inc:
    • Valve Hall
    • Reactor Hall
    • DC Hall
  • Various foundations and bunds

Responsibilities:

As a site engineer you will be:

  • Responsible for day to day surveying and setting out duties. 
  • Ensure quality control requirements are met and recorded in accordance with specification. 
  • Operate and promote a high standard of health and safety and environment compliance.

As an experienced site engineer, you will have relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng), a relevant CSCS card and ideally first aid certification.  You will also have experience of working on a construction site and will be able to evidence experience of setting out and levelling.  You will have experience working on civil engineering projects valuing between £10 and £60 million.
