We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Head of Bid Management and Proposals. 

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated Rail professionals. 

As a the Head of Bid Management and Proposals you will be responsible for submitting completed bids to existing or prospective customers, on time and within budget ensuring that all questions have been answered as fully as possible, and that Morgan Sindall is positioned with the best possible chance of success.

Responsibilities: 

As the Head of Bid Management and Proposals - Rail you will:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of bid management and proposal functions
  • Ensure effective bid and proposal management and leadership is provided on all tenders, and personally manage larger tender opportunities
  • Understand and interact with the overall Morgan Sindall business, to allow projection of benefits to customers through our proposals
  • Establish winning strategies, including writing plans for high value bids and participates in red reviews of prequalification documents and tenders
  • Produce bid budgets for Bids and manage external spend.
  • Ensure process in place to obtain all appropriate levels of authorisation for PQQ and Tender Approval using appropriate Business Development Software.
  • Recognise the roles and skills needed to establish strong bid and proposal capability. Work with others to identify training and mentoring needs. 

As the Head of Bid Management and Proposals – Rail, you will have previous senior level involvement in work winning and have experience managing significant bids and other submissions to win profitable work. The right applicant will be a Chartered Engineer or similar and educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field. The Head of Bid Management and Proposals will be highly literate – able to write and review winning tender submissions, as well as being familiar with planning (including production outputs for civil engineering works and the installation of mechanical and engineering works & commissioning). 

Past experience on CP5 tenders and experience of running large bid teams would be advantageous. 

About our Rail & Electrification Team 

Our customers benefit from the multi-disciplined service we offer in the high speed and underground rail sectors with expertise covering electrification and civil engineering as well as building capabilities including structures, lineside infrastructure, station enhancements and new build.

Our team consists of more than 275 staff - including safety critical staff certified up to engineering supervisor competence level. We work across the UK and Scotland with offices in London, Ware, Rugby, Stoke and Glasgow.

We are a leading provider of construction and isolation services to the rail industry, offering design and build 25kv overhead line and light rail electrification systems, complemented by our own fleet of specialist rail plant.

 

Our Electrification team provides services across the UK, with a base in Ware, Hertfordshire supported by a specialist electrification training centre and plant depot at Swynnerton, Staffordshire, and Scotland depot at Larkhall, South Lanarkshire.

 

Our expertise is focused not only on effective project delivery but also on minimising railway user and environmental disruption through innovative working practices.  These include ‘live launch’ bridge construction - where bridges are installed while railways beneath remain operational and ‘offline’ construction and modularisation techniques within stations.
