Welsh Water Framework

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is investing in its Asset Investment Programme (AMP6), to improve and maintain its assets during the period 2015-2020. The contract also has an option of rolling into AMP 7 2020 -2025.

 

Morgan Sindall  (Nuclear Enengy Water)were appointed by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water in 2015 strengthening their 15 year relationship from previous AMP’s to deliver part of its investment programme to improve and maintain its wastewater assets to ensure compliance with new legislation and to meet the needs of the population. The region covers South and North Wales with the majority of the work being in south west/east wales. 

 

Morgan Sindall’s scope and remit is to provide solutions to the need of the customer and client to ensure the safe operation and working of the waste water system. Designs will be developed with the design partners from the intervention brief through to construction phase and handover. Individual Project values can range from £70k to £20million which will form part of the overall investment figure. Examples of projects are detailed below but not limited to :-

  • Above and Below Ground Storage Tanks
  • Construction of new Treatment Works
  • Extension of Treatment Works
  • Construction of new Surface Water and Foul Water Pipelines and Manholes
  • New Pumping Stations
  • CSO’s
  • Enabling works
  • Roadwork’s & footpaths

Role:

As a Site Agent you will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the clients/Customers objectives, whilst maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. You will be expected to deliver multiple on-going projects, to the specified quality, the required program and to the maximum commercial performance. You will be expected to work closely with the client to ensure minimal disruption to members of the public, businesses and third parties in the aspiration of reducing customer complaints.

Key Aims & Objectives:

  • Ensure the commercial performance of the contract is maximised, Utilising the Commercial department to produce forecasts for the schemes and raising Early warnings in a timely manner when they arise to comply with the project contract.
  • Take ownership of schemes from design to handover to successfully deliver projects
  • Supervise Site staff, hourly paid operatives and subcontractors in conjunction with the site foreman. Ensure delivery of projects with zero accidents and to budget and programme.
  • Understand and interpret the drawings and specifications
  • Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of the works
  • Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
  • Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour
  • Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied
  • Planning and programming production resources relevant to this work area
  • Ensure the production and implementation of Project plans, RAMS, Safe systems of work,ITP’s and waste management plans, in line with company procedures
  • Delivery of project to budget, programme and quality
  • Liaising with Designers to resolve technical queries
  • Taking off quantities of materials and placing orders
  • Reviewing sub contract tenders and evaluating applications and Early warnings.
  • Endeavour to spot and highlight value engineering opportunities
  • Co-ordinating the issue and authorisation of permits to work.
  • Produce and manage the scheme programs
  • Contributing and holding weekly meetings for your respective site teams to plan the works and monitor progress
  • Undertaking regular site safety supervisors inspections
  • Undertake and ambassadorial role representing the business to customers, public, official bodies and the client.
  • Compiling accurate reports and relevant paperwork

 

You will:

 

  • Have considerable experience in Civil engineering and knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to general civil engineering
  • Have working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM Management, Design management, programme and Risk management and cost control
  • Have excellent communication, people and team management skills
  • Have the ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion
  • Be able to produce accurate plans and drawings
  • Demonstrate the right behaviours and motivate and lead the team in line with the company culture, ensuring high standards of compliance
  • Be motivated and creative
  • Have a good attitude to safety procedures and implementation
  • Be in possession of a clean, full UK Driving Licence
  • Need to be prepared to travel throughout Wales
