Welsh Water Framework

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is investing in its Asset Investment Program (AMP6), to improve and maintain its assets during the period 2015-2020. The contract also has an option of rolling into AMP 7 2020 -2025.

 

Morgan Sindall N|E|W (Nuclear Energy Water) were appointed by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water in 2015 strengthening their 15 year relationship from previous AMP’s to deliver part of its investment program to improve and maintain its wastewater assets to ensure compliance with new legislation and to meet the needs of the population. The region covers South and North Wales with the majority of the work being in South West/East Wales. 

 

Morgan Sindall’s scope and remit is to provide solutions to the need of the customer and client to ensure the safe operation and working of the waste water system. Designs will be developed with the design partners from the intervention brief through to construction phase and handover. Individual Project values can range from £70k to £20million which will form part of the overall investment figure. Examples of projects are detailed below but not limited to:-

  • Above and Below Ground Storage Tanks
  • Construction of new Treatment Works
  • Extension of Treatment Works
  • Construction of new Surface Water and Foul Water Pipelines and Manholes
  • New Pumping Stations
  • CSO’s
  • Enabling works
  • Roadwork’s & footpaths

Responsibilities:

As a Section Engineer you will be able to:

Key Aims & Objectives:

  • Accurately set out and inspect the construction of pipelines, manholes and associated sewerage network above and below ground structures.
  • Supervise junior engineers, gangers, hourly paid operatives and subcontractors in conjunction with the site foreman. Ensure delivery of projects with zero accidents and to budget and programme.
  • Understand and interpret the drawings and specifications provide engineering expertise and support to the project team
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of the works
  • Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
  • Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour
  • Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied
  • Planning and programming production resources relevant to this work area
  • Ensure safe systems of work are adhered to
  • Delivery of project to budget, programme and quality
  • Implementation of SHEQ procedures
  • Liaising with Designers to resolve technical queries
  • Taking off quantities of materials and placing orders
  • Undertaking the daily briefing to site operatives
  • Co-ordinating the issue and authorisation of permits to work.
  • Producing weekly programmes and input into the overall project programme.
  • Contributing and holding weekly meetings for your respective site to plan the works and monitor progress
  • Maintaining records (e.g. diaries, inductions and site records)
  • Undertaking regular site safety supervisors inspections

You will:

  • Have the ability to use levels, theodolites and EDM’s accurately
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a methodical approach to design and planning
  • Be able to produce accurate plans and drawings
  • Be able to work in and lead a team
  • Be motivated and innovative
  • Have a good attitude to safety procedures and implementation
  • Be prepared to travel throughout South Wales

Already experienced as a section/site engineer you will have a relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent) and a good knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to general civil engineering.  You will have a hands on approach to the commercial and planning aspects of the project and you will have civil engineering and construction experience ideally in the waste water industry
