We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented General Foreman to work on our Eastern Highways Framework. 

The General Foreman will cover the supervision and coordination of site personnel and subcontractors, the reporting of all relevant site activities and managing the quality of work performed.

The project: Stanford Le Hope Transport Package, Essex

The project for Thurrock Borough Council is procured through the Eastern Highways Alliance Framework.

It involves the creation of a multimodal transport interchange and new railway station that will meet the needs of increased station patronage.

This will involve the demolition of the existing station building at Stanford Le Hope.

The new development will be formed on a steel framed support raft founded on pile foundations alongside the existing railway lines.

The Multimodal interchange consists of new passenger drop off provision, taxi rank, protected pedestrian walking routes, double-decker bus stops with waiting facilities and secure cycle parking spaces.

Railway Station will consist of a steel framed building to both platforms 1 and 2 with integrated pedestrian footbridge and lifts together with improved customer and commercial facilities.

Responsibilities: 

As a General Foreman you will:

  • Coordinate the day to day operations of the site
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures
  • Control and monitor all activities on site
  • Support the achievement of perfect delivery
  • Ensure the daily programming of all site works is performed in accordance with the company construction program
  • In conjunction with the project manager, site engineer and construction manager plan and review overall status of project(s) on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure all site resource (labour, machinery, materials, sub-contractors etc) are effectively utilised and monitored in order to achieve timely completion of projects

The right applicant will have experience within large Highways / Civils with a Roads bias. NVQ 3 or 4 is preferred, as well as holding a current CSCS card.

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
