Opportunity: 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for a ambitious and talented Sub Agents to work on our Old Street Project. 

We are looking for Sub Agents who will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers’ objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control.

The project: Old Street, London 

The Old Street roundabout project is the first contract let by TfL as part of their Civil Projects Framework.

The scheme will remove the existing one-way operation of the signalised Old Street roundabout to improve cycle and pedestrian facilities, reduce collisions and provide an enhanced urban realm.

The roundabout island will be removed to form a new peninsula style junction, similar to that recently constructed in 2016 at the Elephant & Castle junction in Southwark.

The Works will entail major realignment of the carriageway and significant modifications to the subways and station entrances to facilitate the widened carriageways and segregated cycle lanes.

The new formed peninsula will provide an open pedestrianized area with additional seating and retail facilities. 

Responsibilities: 

As a Sub Agent you will:

  • Ensure accurate implementation of all engineering controls and compliance with the contract drawings and specification
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements for safe execution of the works
  • Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
  • Manage site activities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
  • Manage resources to ensure work is completed to site goals and systems requirements
  • Programme works, ensuring effective and efficient utilisation of the resources’
  • Implement and monitor health and safety, quality and environment requirements and standards
  • Prepare method statements as required. Organise briefings on method statements to relevant staff and operatives within their area
  • Liaise with senior foreman on daily basis issues related with programme, resources, production, productivity necessary to meet with programme requirements
  • Lead all actions to solve technical difficulties, improve performance in terms of progress and quality
  • Set working parameters, ensure their application on site, assess the performance
  • Coordinate the work of their shifts and ensure consistency of operation
  • Develop forecast and monitor performance against forecast. Establish and regularly review the detailed working programme. Ensure coordination of all related trades
  • Deliver end product to customer satisfaction

Already experienced as a Sub Agent, you will hold a relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent), hold a CSCS Card and ideally a CRE Accreditation. Good knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to general civil engineering is advantageous, and P.T.S is essential.

 About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
