Opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and talented Document Controller within our Highways & General Civils business unit, to be work on our Old Street Project. 

We are looking for Document Controllers who ideally have used viewpoint (4P) for projects and ideally previous experience in the Infrastructure industry.

The project: Old Street, London 

The Old Street roundabout project is the first contract let by TfL as part of their Civil Projects Framework.

The scheme will remove the existing one-way operation of the signalised Old Street roundabout to improve cycle and pedestrian facilities, reduce collisions and provide an enhanced urban realm.

The roundabout island will be removed to form a new peninsula style junction, similar to that recently constructed in 2016 at the Elephant & Castle junction in Southwark.

The Works will entail major realignment of the carriageway and significant modifications to the subways and station entrances to facilitate the widened carriageways and segregated cycle lanes.

The new formed peninsula will provide an open pedestrianized area with additional seating and retail facilities.

Responsibilities:

As a Document Controller you undertake the following:

  • Coordinate all activities related to the document control procedure, including technical documents, drawings, and commercial correspondence
  • Input document data into standard registers ensuring that the information is accurate and up to date
  • Make sure that controlled copies of latest approved documents and drawings are given to the appropriate staff, subcontractors and suppliers as applicable
  • Maintain the documents and drawings in the document control office under safe custody without any damage or deterioration with easy traceability
  • Maintain the files and control logs as required by the project
  • Organise, manage and file document receipts and distribution lists, project documents and drawings in conjunction with project and corporate naming and numbering procedure

 

As an experienced document controller you will be educated to NVQ level or equivalent with previous document control experience. You will have a working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, word processing and selected job specific software. Experience setting up and using electronic document management systems would be advantageous, as well as high attention to detail.

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
