The Projects:

Kings Cross - Kings Cross Remodelling is a key rail scheme on the Governments Railway Improvement Programme. King’s Cross station throat and approaches are to be remodelled including new track layout, new Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) and modified platforms to suit to modified track layout, and a new conventional signalling system controlled from York Regional Operating Centre (ROC). Key benefits following the works will be an increase in the reliability of Track, Signalling and Control System assets. This Project is due for completion for 2020

Werrington Grade Separation Junction - Morgan Sindall is designing and building a new two-track railway line, more than 3km in length, under the East Coast Main Line at the Werrington Junction that will enable high-speed trains to pass over the Great Northern Great Eastern Line. Existing Stamford Lines will be widened to the west to create four tracks. The central pair of tracks will then dive into a new underpass, below the ECML, and rise to meet the GNGE line approximately 600m after.

Site investigations are well underway and Morgan Sindall is currently taking the GRIP 4 Design through to GRIP 5. Main site works are planned from late Summer 2018 until completion in Spring 2021.

Huntingdon - The Huntington to Woodwalton Fourth Tracking include detailed design development and subsequent construction for the reinstatement of a fourth track (the up slow) to the East Coast Mainline (ECML) between Huntingdon North Junction and Woodwalton Junction. This will provide additional capacity to the ECML and allow freight and suburban passenger services an alternative path which will allow high speed services to pass.

Other works associated with the permanent way reinstatement will also form part of this project and will broadly include; environmental mitigations, embankment stabilisation, drainage works, strengthening and adaptations to existing structures and alterations to the existing railway systems (OLE, E & P, Signalling, Traction Power and Telecoms).

The completion of the project is December 2020.
