The Position –EHV Technician (Cable Jointer) on UK wide Electricity Transmission projects.

A technician with considerable experience who performs various technical and supervisory roles over a wide range of EHV/HV/LV projects within a large geographical area.

You will manage your own workload within the context of a project or company objective. You will take decisions within your discipline with direction from a Project or Senior manager. You are accountable for your own jointing / technical works, performance and its impact on your area or project.

In operations you will manage all aspects within a project / work allocated to you by your line manager. At sites of single function (predominately Jointing works on LG and EHV cables) you will report directly to the Project manager.

You will be responsible and accountable for carrying out jointing works and other suitable duties that you are competent to undertake.

Responsibilities - As an EHV Technician you will:

Responsible for the completion of the electrical jointing works and documentation

Provide technical support and advice to design teams/Project Manager / engineers in assessing jointing solutions and build-ability of the proposed solutions

Assist in reviewing and implementing safe systems of work for jointing activities, including risk assessments and method statements and impact / contingency plans

Help with the training and development of Electrically biased Apprentices

Qualifications, Training & Technical Knowledge:

Qualified and experienced at jointing XLPe, Paper Insulated and Fluid Filled cables ranging from LV – 400kV

An electrical engineering qualification would be advantageous

Holder of relevant DNO, NG & SSEN authorisations

Ability to support other roles relating to the installation of electrical assets for example but not limited to welding, earthing and bus bar connections / installation.
