Responsibilities:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will:

  • As part of the existing commercial team you will provide commercial expertise to aid with the delivery of the contracted work by taking the commercial lead on certain subcontract packages of substantial value;
  • The provision of accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team whilst ensuring the packages achieves the appropriate commercial targets;
  • Ensure Morgan Sindall process and governance is applied at all times;
  • Act as a single point of contact for all commercial, legal, financial and administrative issues with the suppliers and subcontractors;
  • The management of contract change both up stream to the Employer and downstream to the subcontract supply chain. This will include effective identification, notification, quotation and implementation of project change;
  • Partner with operations team and technical experts to provide regular commercial insight on the performance of supply chain organisations contracted to projects, enabling the project to make informed decisions about contract variation;
  • Develop, implement and continually review procedure and practice to ensure the effective commercial management of subcontracts;
  • Demonstrate leadership by developing a culture to minimise subcontract claims;
  • Day 1 subcontract final accounts;
  • Ensure all tenders have a commercial strategy in place and that commercial protocol is adhered to;
  • Accurate forecasting and monitor the key performance indicators;
  • Review and interrogate forecasts and contract value reconciliations;
  • Embrace Morgan Sindall strategies associated with procurement, risk and opportunity;
  • Interface with and implement as appropriate group trading agreements;
  • Maintain awareness of potential loss-making packages and other problems;
  • Continually review the supply chains performance and share information;
  • All Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation and agreement of work sections;
  • Interim administration and settlement of subcontractors’ accounts.

Ideally you are already experienced as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or ready for the next step up in your career development you will be educated to BSc in Quantity Surveying level (or other equivalent commercially related discipline) and preferably you will be working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation (for example, RICS/CIOB). Detailed knowledge of company management systems including Commercial and financial (Commercial Manager/COINS/Sphere) would be desirable. Knowledge and awareness of the ECC NEC 3 form of contract would also be of benefit.

Framework

This is the Successor Facilities Framework Agreement for the provision of design, construction, completion and commissioning works relating to BAE Systems Marine Limited’s Successor Facilities project. 

These works are part of BAE Systems Site Replacement Programme (SRP).

D58/ D59 Facility

Morgan Sindall have been appointed and continue to work on the D58 / D59 Buildings Facility.

This 5 year project commencing June 16 comprises the construction of the D58 / D59 Buildings Facility and is sited adjacent to the north-west corner of the Devonshire Dock Hall (DDH). The Facility comprises two buildings, these being D58 Installation and D59 Manufacturing. 

The two buildings are structurally separate, but with an enclosed link corridor the two buildings permit the transfer of products between the buildings. 

The project’s contract value is currently circa £200 million and will transform the submarine building capabilities of the BAE site in Barrow-in-Furness.
