We have a fantastic opportunity within our Highways business for an ambitious and talented Training Manager to work on a part time basis.

The person: 

The right applicant will demonstrate a high level of influencing and persuasion skills at all levels. A strong L&D background with Training experience, ideally gained within a complex multi-sector business, multi-site business would be required, as well as previous experience of supporting talent management activities through designing and developing aligned learning and development solutions.

Previous experience of using behavioural assessment tools to support learning and development interventions would be desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities: 

As the Training Manager you will:

  • Lead the promotion and engagement within the Business Unit to the Morgan Sindall Academy platform including delivery of lunch and learn sessions on site
  • Advise and support functional and senior management on bespoke development/behavioural solutions in line with company L and D criteria. Supporting in the design of functional bespoke learning initiatives required to underpin functional business activity. In some cases, this will also involve delivery e.g. coaching and mentoring
  • Ensure skills funding is secured from the National Skills Academy and other external sources
  • Work with the HR BP to ensure management development nominations are developed in line with the course requirements and development experience of the nominee.

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
