Opportunity: 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Skills Coordinator to work within our Highways business.

We are looking for a Skills Coordinator who will provide a comprehensive skills development service to the BMJV M27 project . You will be educated to GCSE level or NVQ Level 2.Reporting to the Morgan Sindall Operations Director for the BMJV, the Skills and Employment Manager will have responsibility to discharge the role duties and will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing development and maintenance of the Skills and Employment Plan. The peson will act as the operational point of contact between the BMJV on all matters concerning the Skills and Employment Plan.

Previous Training or Skills development experience is essential and desirable within the construction sector

You will ideally have previous training/skills coordination experience, be motivated and enthusiastic and very well organised.

Responsibilities: 

 

As a Skills Coordinator you will:

Provide the necessary expertise to support the relevant and purposeful development of our contractual requirement in respect of apprenticeships and work placements

Provision of a coordinated approach to the successful delivery of Skills and Employment outputs ensuring functional leads and Works Package teams are engaged in the process. Develop and maintain an operational employment and skills plan. Understand clients’ development and training needs

The management of subcontractor compliance with skills and employment objectives

Ensuring that the relevant data is captured from functional delivery activities to enable high performing and accurate reporting, as required

The coordination of skills requirement forecasting to develop BMJVs strategic workforce plan entailing the mapping of skills assessment to skills requirement ,identify skills gap analyses and provide training /skills solutions to address those needs

Assist the Highways and Training Coordinator to coordinate and manage the delivery of training and NVQ assessments across the projects

Assist the BMJV employees with career development planning and associated discussions as well as job chats for the labour workforce and finding solutions to enable employees to fulfil their full potential

Coordinate all local training, schools and further/higher education engagement activities to ensure the associated KPIs are met

Communicate to the wider business and produce case studies on the people element of Morgan Sindall’s sustainability strategy

Effective and efficient communication of training needs and training delivered back to the parent organisation to ensure complete records and maximisation of grant recovery

Identify new innovative ways to meet and exceed customer requirements

Any other related duties as required

 

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, Lincolnshire’s new A1073 bypass, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
