Opportunity: 

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Infrastructure business for an ambitious and talented Skills Coordinator to work within our Highways business.

We are looking for a Skills Coordinator who will provide a comprehensive skills development service to the BMJV M27 project . You will be educated to A Level or equivalent.Reporting to the Operations Director for the BMJV, the Project Skills Coordinator will have responsibility to discharge the role duties and will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing development and maintenance of the Skills and Employment Plan. The peson will act as the operational point of contact between the BMJV on all matters concerning the Skills and Employment Plan.

Previous Training or Skills development experience is essential and desirable within the construction sector

You will ideally have previous training/skills coordination experience, be motivated and enthusiastic and very well organised.You will possess excellent communication,organsisationa and influencing skills.You will also have a proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information and a full UK driving licence

Key tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Identify and develop new and existing relationships with external stakeholders, supply chain and project teams
  • Locate and maximise funding for learning and development initiatives.
  • Represent the company in audit events.
  • Select, implement and coordinate learning and development and assessment requirement through consultation and liaison, utilising partnerships with external stakeholders, supply chain and JV project teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and assessment activities.
  • Provide timely and accurate information, advice, guidance and management information to the project team, stakeholders and supply chain to support ESP targets.
  • Ensure appropriate competence cards are achieved and maintained e.g. CSCS and CPCS
  • Fulfil the apprenticeship requirements of the project and identify further opportunities
  • Support the National Skills Academy for Construction in the pursuit of best practice sharing across the network
  • Deliver case studies and articles for distribution internally and externally
  • Provide the necessary expertise to support the relevant and purposeful development of our contractual requirement in respect of apprenticeships and work placements
  • Provision of a coordinated approach to the successful delivery of Skills and Employment outputs ensuring functional leads and Works Package teams are engaged in the process
  • Develop and maintain an operational employment and skills plan
  • The management of subcontractor compliance with skills and employment objectives
  • Ensuring that the relevant data is captured from functional delivery activities to enable high performing and accurate reporting, as required
  • Coordinate all local training, schools and further/higher education engagement activities to ensure the associated KPIs are met
  • Monitor budget and cost allocations
  • Working to department quality processes
  • Identify new innovative ways to meet and exceed customer requirements
  • Any other related duties as required

 

About the Highways Team:

Our projects encompass motorway widening, congestion relief, safety improvement and bypass schemes. Recent work includes M62 Smart Motorways, the A1 Improvement scheme from Dishforth to Barton in North Yorkshire, and the M74 Completion Project through central Glasgow, Scotland’s largest infrastructure scheme. Under Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) schemes, we engage with our customers as early as possible to maximise innovation, efficiency and cost savings.
