Talented people are the key to our success

About us:

Would you like to work for a progressive and ambitious company which is also one of the most successful within the UK construction and infrastructure industry?

Morgan Sindall provides national construction and infrastructure services to private and public sector customers across a comprehensive range of markets. We aim to create great results for our customers, partners and ourselves.

As a Business Analyst,

Key objectives are:

  • To generate performance estimating data (‘norms’ and ISA standards) in collaboration with the ISA Pre-construction team.
  • To structure and maintain this key estimating data within a standard estimating framework to enable re-use, and refine these based on ongoing delivery performance.
  • To liaise with all project teams across the ISA Portfolio to ensure that benefits are captured and logged periodically, verified with the appropriate team members, and reported as a component of the ISA KPI’s.
  • To maintain the ISA master ‘benefits’ tracker and ensure that opportunities are forecast across the lifecycle of each job, task and project.

Principal responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Generate estimating ‘norms’ from the analysis of historic performance data across the ISA portfolio – in support of the Pre-construction team.
  • Structure this norms data within a standard framework that enables re-use to inform estimating (for use by the Pre-Construction team) and workload forecasting, and refine these as delivery progresses (i.e. as new data emerges).
  • Other aspects of the norms will be to capture the data from other projects to identify opportunities on improving delivery across the business
  • Liaison with project teams from each ISA Programme to ensure that they are forecasting, monitoring, tracking and recording benefits.
  • Record ‘non-cashable’ benefits – ensure that personnel in their respective portfolios understand what ‘non-cashable’ benefits are and how they should be recorded; ensuring that the ‘non-cashable’ benefits are logged and are promoted to the wider teams.
  • Consolidate the benefits / savings that have been forecast and generated by each project team into the master ‘benefits’ tracker.
  • Communicate the ‘repeatable’ benefits (through presentations, posters, knowledge sharing events, and so on) to the wider ISA team.
  • Support the process of gathering monthly performance data from multiple stakeholders throughout the ISA organisation.
  • Support the compilation of all data into the standard ISA performance reporting templates.
  • Support the process of issuing the ISA performance reporting pack to the various stakeholders groups and ensure that the ISA performance reporting information is visually displayed at all ISA key locations.

Qualifications and training:

  • Qualified to Degree level or minimum or relevant experience working within a similar role
  • A background in Cost planning / Quantity Surveying / Financial Control would be beneficial (but not essential)

Technical skills and experience:

  • Ability to interact and engage with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary groups to challenge and develop existing processes and working practices
  • Experience of developing, setting, and updating actions to ensure that performance can be tracked in terms of progress toward achieving required / desired outcomes.
  • Ability to manage a given list of tasks.
  • Ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • IT literate: Experienced in the use of the Microsoft office applications & Expert user of Microsoft Excel would be beneficial
