About the role

As part of a successful and growing Civil & Structural department, you’ll provide direct support to the Associate Engineers whilst joining a team that’s been delivering industry leading design solutions for decades. Your organisational and communication skills will help you interact with internal and external contacts to deliver projects within time, quality and budget constraints. You’ll also work closely with the Senior Engineers, playing an integral role in the driving of quality standards and the development of the team as a whole. 

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

Produce comprehensive civil and stuctural design packages for all aspects of civil and stuctural design.

  • Manage and deliver design packages to cost, schedule and quality criteria
  • Produce and check design calculations to appropriate standards
  • Manage small teams producing design calculations and drawings
  • Provide operational support to Principal Engineer, Associate Engineer and Head of Civil and Structural Engineering - Scotland
  • Ensure compliance with business quality & management systems
  • Lead C&S design delivery across single projects or part of larger projects in single- or multi- discipline teams
  • Implement ‘Perfect Delivery’
  • Report on project performance to Head of Civil and Structural Engineering - Scotland, Associate Engineer or Principal Engineer
  • Tender preparation for projects of all sizes, including fee estimates
  • Have detailed technical knowledge of civil design methods and standards
  • Be open to and encourage innovation and sustainability
  • Implement change as directed by the Head of Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered Civil Engineer CEng MICE or near Chartered
  • Appropriate depth and breadth of experience
