Responsibilities:

As a Quantity Surveyor you will:

  • As part of the existing commercial team you will provide your commercial skills to aid with the delivery of the contracted work by either taking the commercial lead or by providing support on certain subcontract packages of substantial value;
  • The provision of accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team whilst ensuring the packages achieves the appropriate commercial targets;
  • Ensure Morgan Sindall process and governance is applied at all times;
  • Act as a point of contact for all commercial, financial and administrative issues with the suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Support the management of contract change both up stream to the Employer and downstream to the subcontract supply chain. This will include effective identification, notification, quotation and implementation of project change;
  • Partner with operations team and technical experts to provide regular commercial insight on the performance of supply chain organisations contracted to projects, enabling the project to make informed decisions about contract variation;
  • Implement and continually review procedure and practice to ensure the effective commercial management of subcontracts;
  • Demonstrate leadership by developing a culture to minimise subcontract claims;
  • Day 1 subcontract final accounts;
  • Ensure all tenders have a commercial strategy in place and that commercial protocol is adhered to and supported;
  • Accurate forecasting and monitor the key performance indicators;
  • Review and interrogate package forecasts and contract value reconciliations;
  • Embrace Morgan Sindall strategies associated with procurement, risk and opportunity;
  • Interface with and implement as appropriate group trading agreements;
  • Maintain awareness of potential loss-making packages and other problems;
  • Continually review the supply chains performance and share information;
  • All Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation and agreement of work sections;
  • Interim administration and settlement of subcontractors’ accounts.
  • Maintain commercial information to the contract and / or subcontracts.
  • Satisfy the needs of both the customer and Morgan Sindall in terms of reporting contract commercial performance.

Already experienced as a quantity surveyor, you will have a HND or Degree in quantity surveying (or other commercially related discipline) and you will be RICS accredited.  You will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and you will have an understanding of period cost reporting and comparison with budgets/forecasts.
