Due to business growth we have opportunities for year out and summer placement students to join our commercial team.
What you’ll do
As a placement student you will gain exposure to a wide range of activities in the commercial team. You’ll work with experienced team members to carry out quantity surveying duties and provide financial and contractual control on the project. Typical responsibilities include:
- Updating cost control procedures
- Costing site developments
- Compiling cash flow reports
- Assisting with preparation of tenders and procurement of sub-contractors
- Processing subcontract orders, payments and variations
- Understand and assist with evaluation and agreement of variations and instructions for smaller trades
Where you could work
We have opportunities in infrastructure projects across the UK, if you join as a graduate you’ll need to have some flexibility in where you work. Examples of some recently completed and won projects include:
SSEN – Inverness area
Sellafield – Cumbria area
M27 – Southampton area
M62 – Manchester area
MHA – Leicester area
OId Street – London borough of Islington
Heathrow – London
Werrington - Peterborough
Your development and support
We have a large cohort of over 100 graduates and you’ll be given a buddy who has experienced being a placement student, as well as an experienced team for you to learn from. Whilst on placement, you’ll be given access to our Morgan Sindall Academy so that you can learn and develop your career.
What we look for
We are looking for people who are genuinely interested in our company and have a passion for the sector. Our most successful students have a positive attitude, want to learn and work well with others. Academic record is important, but it’s not the only thing we look at, we ask for a minimum 2:2. We pride ourselves on having an inclusive workplace and recently won the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development award for best Diversity and Inclusion programme and applications from under-represented groups are particularly welcomed
Following good performance on placement, you can be invited to apply for sponsorship leading to the offer of a graduate position upon completion of your degree studies.
