About the role

As the demand to deliver exceptional Civil Engineering design to our clients continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Engineer to be based in our London office. We are looking for someone to lead the delivery of civil and structural design packages across multiple projects, as part of a single or multi-discipline design team, carry out any or all stages of civil and structural design from concept to completion across sectors including rail, science and technology, waste to energy, aviation and healthcare.

Principal responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Undertake all aspects of infrastructure design work on a range of project sizes across the following sectors: Aviation, Public Sector, Rail, Power, defence and Life Sciences.
  • Act as a technical authority for Infrastructure Design across all Baker Hicks UK offices.
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior staff and the continual improvement of our department BIM capabilities.
  • Be highly proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D and Microdrainage.
  • Keep up to date with drainage design trends/customer awareness/design techniques.
  • Review specialist subcontractor’s supplier’s production drawings for technical compliance with design intent.
  • Carry out technical design reviews/critiques of projects in progress.
  • Represent Baker Hicks in external project technical meetings and site visits if required.

Skills and experience required

  • Chartered Engineer
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or Equivalent)
  • CRE/CRM qualified preferred
  • Full PTS Certification
  • Fully Conversant with current codes, standards and responsibilities under CDM and health and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to work within a fully integrated, multi-discipline design team.
