About the Team

The Operational job family consists of roles that provide front line delivery to our Customers, such as trade’s roles, roles that measure contract performance and the management of these activities.

About the Role

Purpose:

Working to deliver highest quality service to carry out a variety of technical services tasks.  Working efficiently and safety in line with best practise to achieve an excellent customer experience.  This role may operate across multiple contracts.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are readily available at the beginning of each shift so that workers can begin their work on time.
  • Arrange for materials such as bricks, mortar, and cement to be available at assigned worksites.
  • Load and unload materials to and from delivery trucks, ensuring that they are safely moved to storage sites.
  • Erect and maintain walls, retaining walls and fences.
  • Assist in construction or demolishing of buildings.
  • Load and unload structure materials and move materials in work areas.
  • Direct traffic at or near building sites and carry out other traffic management activities.
  • Maintain plants, landscape, and gardens.
  • Assist supervisors with clerical duties.
  • Operate forklift, mowers and material breakers.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Erect/demolish concrete forms, scaffolding, and ramps.
  • Assist in plantation and take care of forests.
  • Dig trenches and place pipes or cables for drains and extra services.
  • Construct and maintain roads, pathways or railways.
  • Clean up work sites.
  • Manage shift equipment and materials.
  • Transfer and finish concrete slabs.
  • Take delivery of materials and cargo from suppliers.
  • Mix, transfer and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • Help in drilling and blasting; plane earth using rakes and shovels.
  • Remove debris and trash from sites using wheelbarrows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Ensure all PPE is provided and present prior to engaging on task.
  • Ensure you have materials and equipment provided before you undertake task.
  • Ensure that the task is deliverable within the time allocation
  • Ensure all works do not present a hazard or danger to others
  • Ensure all H&S documentation (RAMS) are present prior to engaging on task
  • Ensure asbestos survey is present prior to undertaking works
  • If operating plant or machinery, ensure all certifications for plant is present and up to date prior to use.

About You 

  • Full or Automatic UK driving license held for minimum 12 months
  • Previous experience as a general Labourer is preferred.
  • Ability to use small hand tools
  • Ability to operate small hand-held plant such as drills and breakers
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to work within a team environment
  • Basic construction skills would be advantageous
