About the Role

Within this role you will provide mechanical building services engineering design input and leadership to BakerHicks design projects, specifically work on prisons.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead the delivery of Mechanical services scope of work across multiple projects, specifically prisons within our public sector, as part of a single or multi discipline design team.
  • Carry out any or all stages of Mechanical design from concept to completion as required by the project.
  • Lead the preparation of enquiries for potential major projects (specifically prisons), including generation of man-hours estimates.
  • Report on project technical and financial performance to the Director.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the department, particularly in the prison sector.
  • Assure the quality of designs by junior team members
  • Assist in the mentoring and development of more junior engineers.
  • To be recognised for exceptional delivery with our clients
  • Comply with BakerHicks quality processes

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree qualified in either Mechanical Engineering or Building Services or related
  • Technical knowledge of Mechanical building services in the design, particularly in UK prisons
  • Fully familiar with assurance processes, codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation in the generally in industry but including the prison sector and Ministry of Justice (MOJ) standards.

Desirable 

  • A professional registration (CEng/IEng) is preferred
