Senior Project Engineer (Construction Section Manager) – MEICA

Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced site based Senior Project Engineer (MEICA) to join our dynamic Construction Team on the Replacement Analytical Project (RAP) within the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) on Sellafield.

The successful candidate will assume the role of Section Manager within the construction team and be responsible for providing technical leadership on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) activities, ensuring that all M&E works are completed to the required standards, within budget, and on time. They will work closely with the Construction Manager to ensure that all works are executed in accordance with the contract specifications, drawings, and all relevant industry standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Lead the project engineering team to ensure the successful delivery of MEICA projects from initiation to completion.
    • Provide effective leadership and mentorship to project team members.
  • Technical Guidance:
    • Offer expert technical guidance and support to the project team, ensuring a high level of competence and proficiency.
  • Project Management:
    • Effectively manage the project schedule, budget, and quality standards for MEICA projects.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize project efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to foster effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Design Oversight:
    • Review and assure MEICA design documents and provide input to ensure constructability and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Engineering Solutions:
    • Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to address challenges encountered during MEICA projects.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety requirements on project sites, promoting a culture of safety excellence.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks and opportunities to ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, a related field or demonstrable equivalent eduaciton
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the M&E, HVAC & Electrical industry, with at least 5 years in a project engineering / construction role.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong technical knowledge of MEICA systems and equipment in the M&E, HVAC & Electrical industry.
  • Project Management Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage complex MEICA projects from initiation to completion.
  • Communication and Leadership:
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving and Decision-making:
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address challenges encountered during MEICA projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards in the M&E, HVAC & Electrical industry.
