ABOUT THE ROLE

Lovell South Wales & South West Region are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Land & Planning Graduate to join our South Wales and South West region.

Based at either our Cardiff or Bristol office (to suit the commute) the candidate would be expected to work with Land Managers in both regional offices and on site where appropriate. 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The role will involve assisting Land Managers in the acquisition of development sites across the South Wales & South West areas within the region:

  • Assisting in identifying, evaluating and securing land/sites for residential development on the most cost effective basis.
  • Ensuring all tender opportunities are identified and pursue those suitable.
  • Supporting the Land & Partnership team and Commercial teams in the identification of risks and the application of the Commercial Standing Instructions.
  • Monitoring all regional and local authority planning and housing documentation and OJEU notices for future land / partnership opportunities.
  • Acquiring land within the 5 year Regional Growth Plan.
  • Supporting Land Managers to manage/control of initial land bidding process on initial land bids.
  • Assisting with planning appraisals to assess the planning and development potential of residential land opportunities.
  • Undertaking in house planning services through the submission of various planning applications on behalf of the company.
  • Involvement in managing and progressing strategic land opportunities through Local Development Plan.
  • Assisting with the information flow between all parties associated with the land bid.
  • Assisting with negotiation and formulate the basis of land offers for consideration by the senior leadership team prior to any formal approach being made.
  • Developing and maintaining a sound knowledge of all technical aspects of the acquisition and development of land.
  • Assisting with co-ordination between land and other internal departments to ensure opportunities are optimised and effective working relationships are developed to assist in the land acquisition process.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Should be working towards and/or have completed a relevant land and/or planning degree within the last 3 years
  • Previous experience of working within a land and/or planning team.
  • A basic working knowledge of land and planning legislation and related guidance
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Possesses strong customer facing skills – good at developing relationships
  • Decision making and problem solving skills
  • Takes ownership of key activities
  • Analytical and numerate
  • Articulate, flexible, versatile and copes well under pressure
