About the Role

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated chartered engineer, to join our business as an Associate Planner.

Working across multiple sectors within multi-disciplinary environment on a diverse range of exciting projects; you will undertake business development activities and participate in work winning efforts to develop and grow the traffic and transport capability at BakerHicks.

You will already have a proven track record of delivering medium to large traffic and transport related projects with a good understanding on Planning Policy, Travel planning, Transport assessments, traffic modelling /analysis and experience in using relevant software packages including micro simulation strategic modelling and analysis.

You will be seen as the technical lead being able to advise on technical issue associated with transport and traffic matters, as well as being able to review outputs ensuring work packages are delivered to the right quality, delivered on time and delivered within budget.

 

What you will do

  • Provide transport planning services and advice on behalf of BakerHicks, to external and internal clients
  • Lead on the preparation of planning applications for development proposals as well as on the negotiation of planning submissions through the consents process
  • Management of traffic and transport deliverables (including drawings, specifications and reports), site surveys, client liaison with members of design/ construction teams, project management, costing and ensure progress against the project brief
  • Manage or support responses to tender opportunities and fee proposals
  • Monitoring of project fee spend and deliver commercial objectives including invoicing and Cost Value Report management
  • Support the preparation of strategy and policy documents, evidence-based studies and associated advice
  • Input into, or co-ordination of, Environmental Impact Assessments or other planning related deliverables
  • Work with senior colleagues to identify, develop and pursue new business and marketing opportunities across a range of sectors
  • Management, mentoring and support for more junior colleagues

 

About you

  • You are a professional Member of a recognised Institute/Institution with extensive experience of delivering communications and consultation activity on projects of different sizes and scales covering traffic and transport
  • You have experience of Planning policy, transport assessments, traffic analysis, strategic and outline business cases
  • Experience managing a team of varying levels of experience.
  • Strong ability to develop enduring relationships 
  • Outstanding design, technical detailing and specification writing experience.
  • Experience of contributing to bids, proposals and tender specifications.
  • Be fully conversant with the basics of CDM Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes with respect to design and specification including a number of the following:
    • Traffic loading assessments.
    • Traffic surveys
    • Transport assessments
    • Preparation of Transport Statements
  • Experience with Transport Statements, Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, S106 agreements, S278 agreements and guidance such as NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets etc
