About the role

For this role, you will be a senior process engineer with experience of working within the life sciences and manufacturing sector in the UK.  You will typically have a degree in Chemical Engineering and be chartered with the Institute of Chemical Engineers. You’ll be part of an enthusiastic and committed team of Engineers and Designers working to deliver high quality output on projects. As well as possessing excellent technical skills, client care and repeat business is crucial to BakerHicks success, so you’ll need to be able to develop and nurture relationships with our clients (both internal and external).

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering services design and consultancy work on behalf of BakerHicks under the direction of the line manager or project lead.
  • Produce design deliverables (including calculations, specifications, and reports), site surveys, construction stage duties, client liaison with members of design/construction teams, costing and ensure progress against the project brief
  • Check deliverables produced by colleagues to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the design team to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimate sheets, scopes of work and change controls as required

Experience and Qualifications

  • Membership of Institute of Chemical Engineers
  • Chartered Engineer Status (or working towards this)
  • Experience of both concept / front end design, and detailed design
  • Experience of developing Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID’s, equipment datasheets and specifications
  • Experience of standard process engineering calculations including pressure drop / pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat transfer, and heat & mass balance calculations
