About the role
Baker Hicks provides various professional services for a major Defence Contractors Configuration Management function. Based on the clients sites, we provide support to Document Management & Administration / CAD / BIM / Surveying / Tooling with a team of approximately 70 people. As part of the growth of the service, we have identified the need for a Topographic Surveyor.
Within this role you will provide measured surveys of land, buildings and utilities as part of an existing Survey Team. Generate cartographic production and configuration/improvements of Topographic & Utilities baselines and align with the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), guidance for measured survey of land, buildings and utilities.
Responsibilities and accountabilities
- Provide a professional surveying service to the GIS & Project Teams; gathering and verifying topographic and utility asset data using mobile or traditional topographic survey techniques.
- Process 3rd party survey data for inclusion into the corporate asset management systems
- Review data returned from projects and other surveys against corporate specifications
- Work with the Survey Manager regarding survey specifications, tender assessments and support to all aspects relating to survey
- Understand and apply responsibilities with regards to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
Skills and experience
- Qualification in Land Surveying and/or relevant subject or equivalent and demonstrable experience in a working environment
- Good knowledge of survey data production principles and drawing output using N4CE and AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of Leica Captivate, GS18 GNSS, CS20 Controller and TS15/16 Total Station equipment, Digital Levels as well as Leica RTC360 Laser Scanners
- Understanding of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in relation to survey and relevant data types
- Survey experience in land and building surveying, with experience of utilities surveying desirable
- High quality cartographic production, attention to detail with pride in output quality and presentation
