The Role:
The Lead Commissioning Engineer reports to the Area Commissioning Manager. They will carry out a managerial role to deliver commissioning scope across their assigned areas utilising the required management systems and associated practices. You will report on progress and ensures that appropriate structure and arrangements are in place to facilitate delivery.
You will collaborate with an internal multidisciplined project delivery team and interface with external stakeholders/vendors. You will lead the Commissioning team through the lifecycle to ensure safe and effective delivery of commissioning is implemented.
Responsibilities:
The Lead Commissioning Engineer is responsible for:
- Delivery of safe commissioning testing and maintenance activities at facility.
- Identification of resource requirements.
- Delivering the commissioning work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Reviewing commissioning progress and performance and taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
- Planning, balancing and prioritizing commissioning resources to support successful delivery.
- Delivering fit for purpose work in a safe manner to meet or better the project start up, baseline cost, schedule and quality requirements.
- The effective use of the Project Delivery Fundamentals and required company practices.
- Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans in line with the overall project strategies and plans.
- Ensuring the relevant project risks are identified and managed/mitigated as appropriate. This includes regular monitoring of the residual risks.
- Managing the resource, schedule and cost to support delivery
- Ensuring safe coordination between the team and the Facility
- Ensuring co-ordination with all supporting teams
Essentials:
- HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or Incorporated Engineer status
- Experience in managing an engineering or technical group delivering technical packages with demonstrable evidence of success
- Demonstrable experience in managing multi-disciplined teams
Desirables:
- Project management experience
Experience in managing operations/commissioning activities in a highly regulated environment

- Ensuring that the resources deployed are SQEPs and are managed efficiently and effectively.
- Leading and coaching the team to maximise their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Reporting delivery progress.
- Ensuring the commissioning activities are performed in accordance with the approved testing and commissioning programme.
- Identifying, implementing and complying with applicable safety, environmental, and quality, company procedures, policy, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Applying an appropriate level of priority for safety and quality to ensure that
Nuclear Safety is not compromised by delivery.
- Maintaining effective communications and executing the project strategies
within their team.
- Prompt identification of industrial relations and HR issues within their team.
- Leading and coaching their team to maximise their efficiency and effectiveness to deliver fit for purpose work safely
- Maximizing their teams Learning from Experience, disseminating and input of LFE
- Timely and accurately communicating their team related performance, issues, concerns, and risks.
- Expenditures up to the approved authority limit as set by the Area Commissioning Manager in their area
- Authorise the commencement and cessation of commissioning work.
