Description

Lovell Strategic Land is a new business within Lovell, a division of Morgan Sindall Plc. Morgan Sindall Plc has 8 divisions specialising in construction and regeneration in the built environment. Lovell is a housing expert and a leading provider of innovative housing development, refurbishment, and construction throughout the UK. Lovell Strategic Land is a specialist team with the purpose to acquire, promote, master plan, obtain planning permission on strategic land throughout the UK with the aim to feed the Lovell Regions a pipeline of sites for residentially led development. The vision for the business is to create sustainable homes and communities for all, leaving a positive legacy wherever we work.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

To be a member of the Strategic Land Team, with a responsibility for identifying, securing, promoting and master planning strategic land for residential development to support growth in line with the business plan.  This will include liaison with agents, local authorities, landowners, and consultants during the development process to ensure a satisfactory development solution is progressed and delivered in conjunction with the Regions to ensure an efficient handover. As a graduate within the team, experience will be provided in all aspects of strategic land acquisition, planning promotion, master planning, and development appraisals before specialising in either a land or planning role. In addition, participation in the Lovell Graduate Scheme will be available to develop managerial skills. The role will be supported to complete a professional qualification for either the RICS or RTPI.

Starting in September 2023, you will be recruited as a Land and Planning Graduate and will complete a structured 6-week induction to the business before focussing on your role you will attend graduate programme days at our head office in Tamworth and around the business. During the two years of the programme, you will work mainly in strategic land learning the art and science of the business, but also spend 6-week placements in broader business departments (commercial, technical, and business development) to gain an insight into the wider business.  You will also complete the Institute of Leadership and Management’s Level 2 Award in Team Leading as an introduction to the world of management.

Skills & Experience

Candidates will have graduated in 2022 or be graduating in 2023 and have gained or be predicted to gain at least a 2.1 in or a pass for a Masters in a relevant degree such as Town Planning, Estate Management, Rural Surveying, Urban Design, Property Development, Built Environment with accreditation to either the RICS or RTPI. 

Successful candidates will have achieved high academic standards as well as being able to demonstrate a passion and commitment for a career in strategic land.  We will be looking for evidence of leadership skills, ability to work in a team, and a commitment to excellence.

Desirable attributes:

  • Knowledge of or interest in the Local Plans, Planning Applications and Appeals Local Plans, Planning Applications and Appeals
  • Knowledge of the theory of property valuation, particularly residential development valuations
  • Experience within an office of a property agency, developer, planning consultant with an insight into strategic land
