The Opportunity

BakerHicks are tasked with supporting one of our Defence clients on a project in its construction phase.  This senior engineer will carry out technical design reviews and provide resolution to a series of queries that our client has pertaining to the construction of this project.

You will work closely with the client as well as a team of design engineers seeing to all/ any technical queries that may arise that need to be reviewed against the design already undertaken, with the potential need to input into any design amendments.

This role will require 1-2 days onsite in Aldermaston, with the balance working remotely according to BakerHicks hybrid working.


What you will do

  • Provide engineering design and consultancy services on behalf of BakerHicks under the direction of the line manager or project lead.
  • Produce design deliverables where necessary (including drawings, specifications and reports), site surveys, construction stage duties, client liaison with members of design/construction teams, project management, costing and ensuring progress against the project brief.
  • Check calculations and detailed drawings to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary design team members to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.


About You

  • You will hold a relevant degree and ideally be chartered
  • You will be technically astute in Structural design
  • You will be SC cleared or willing and able to obtain this
  • Familiar with RIBA stage 5
