Are you an experienced Construction Manager with a passion for ensuring safety and efficiency in crane operations? Are you skilled in overseeing construction projects and have a thorough understanding of crane-related regulations and best practices? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Appointed Person for Cranes, taking responsibility for all crane-related activities on construction sites.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lifting plans, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to coordinate crane operations and ensure they align with project timelines and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential hazards and risks related to crane operations, implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on crane-related matters to project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel.
  • Manage and maintain crane-related documentation, including lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of crane operators, ensuring they are qualified and capable of operating cranes safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular training and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety awareness and best practices among site personnel.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements related to crane operations, incorporating them into project strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, preferably with a focus on crane operations and serving as an Appointed Person for Cranes.
  • In-depth knowledge of crane-related regulations, such as LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and BS 7121 (Code of Practice for Safe Use of Cranes).
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Relevant certifications and qualifications in crane operations and appointed person responsibilities are preferred.

The alliance is mainly aimed at protecting and developing the utility assets; however, it also has scope for a number of non-utility asset projects as well.

A diverse and growing portfolio with our Clyde Commercial Framework (CCF). The CCF programme ensures that the teams responsible for delivering the UK’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD) are able to live work and train in safe, state of the art facilities. The framework delivers cost effective infrastructure solutions to enable HMNB Clyde to continue to endure in its new role as the Royal Navy’s Single Integrated Operating Base.
