Baker Hicks provides a managed service for a major Defence Contractor’s Configuration Management function. Based on the client’s sites, we provide support to Document Control, CAD, BIM, Surveying & Tooling with a team of approximately 70 people.
As part of the growth of the service, we have identified the need for a BIM Technician to provide coordinated modelling of mechanical, electrical and plumbing services / civil & structural/architectural as well as supervision of model/drawing production.
Key Objectives
- Produce 2D layouts/sections/schematics, using AutoCAD/Revit Platforms.
- Produce 3D BIM models, generating 2D/3D/layouts/sections/schematics/schedules, to include information modelling to the requirement of the task, using Revit Platforms.
- Clash detection, using Navisworks.
- Review, Interpretation and conversion of Point Cloud data to create BIM level 2 models in Revit Platforms
- Liaise with the BIM Modelling / Data Capture Manager for task requirements.
- Produce Revit families where required, to the required level of detail/information.
- Mentoring of trainees and technicians
- Ensure tasks are completed working to the required company/project standards, based around ISO 19650-1, ISO 19650-2 & BS8541.
Requirements
- Ideally educated to HNC level or above in a BIM related field.
- A comprehensive knowledge of 3D services co-ordination and point-cloud manipulation
- Extensive knowledge of ISO 19650-1 & ISO 19650-2
- Good presentation skills and ability to manipulate data sets
- Extensive understanding of working in a Common Data Environment (CDE) such as BIM360/ACC.
- Extensive experience of producing BIM level 2 Models & families
- Experience of managing and controlling BIM data and related areas.
- Ability to use engineering knowledge and understanding to review and select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake tasks.
- Extensive experience of manipulating Laser Scanned Point cloud data.
- Extensive experience in using Revit on Architectural/MEP projects (examples of work and advantage at interview).
