Description

As a member of the BakerHicks design team, you will work with one of our key clients in the Nuclear sector, delivering to our Client’s multiple customers, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) including technical feasibility and best available technology (BAT) studies.

You will act as P&M lead engineer in the delivery of Conceptual and Basic Design of new build or modifications of (production) facilities; providing directions and oversight regarding design development to third party engineering service providers.

Providing your expert knowledge and advice, from a technical seniority perspective, you will manage  Plant Design requirement specifications, including Asset protection and management strategy, CapEx plans, Safety and Learning from Experience.

You will be part of developing the Client’s Group design standards to meet world class safety standards, site license requirements and providing competitive advantages to be supplier of choice in the Nuclear (Enrichment) business.


This role will require some onsite working initially, with a hybrid approach thereafter.


Responsibilities
 

  • Actively promote a pro-active safety culture and perform analysis to create a learning from experience behaviour.
  • Ensure advanced plant designs comprises safety features based on best industrial practice and lessons learnt from the (nuclear) business.
  • Determine P&M design engineering aspects, options and evaluation in contribution to feasibility/optioneering/best available technology studies.
  • Delivery of Conceptual Design and Design Specifications with focus on P&M expertise area.
  • Delivery of Basic Design packages concerning Core Plant Technology (CPT) with respect to P&M systems and equipment.
  • Provide directions and oversight concerning Detailed Design and supplier manufacturing quality processes on request of site or group project managers.
  • Define and maintain Core Plant Technology (CPT) design expertise on the basis of the Client’s best (safety) practice and world class state-of- the-art technology (Design Technology Excellence Centre).
  • Establish, control, and maintain Group Reference Design and safety case standards and requirements. Group Reference Design includes: core UF6 enrichment, critical core UF6 support system requirements, relevant UF6 de-conversion requirements, and all design and safety case requirements in support of UTD activities.
  • Lead Post Implementation Reviews in P&M expertise area to establish the feedback loop to Design Authority from a safety/license compliance, operational and asset management perspective

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, Process Technology, Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Any other equivalent in combination with a Professional Engineer (PE) license obtained by accredited examination in associated areas.
  • Demonstrable track record in successful design delivery involving conceptual designs and FEED of complex process facilities.
  • Senior experience in plant design

Specific knowhow and technical skills:

  • Ability to model and simulate complex stationary and dynamic integrated process systems with respect to process and mechanical requirements, design starting points.
  • P&M experience in (nuclear) process industry.
  • Capability to analyse (measurement) data of complex process systems to solve or improve performance and understand (root) cause of events.
