Providing commercial support from tender stage to final account, alongside the management of company, sector, disciplinary and project budgets, our Finance & Commercial team lead the day-to-day and strategic management of the company finances.
As the Head of UK Commercial & Finance (HoC&F), you will be responsible for the day to day management of the UK Commercial and Finance teams across all UK offices, providing leadership support, managing commercial resource levels and supporting the wider business on projects, bids and other core commercial activities.
You will ensure a strong financial control environment is in place to support business growth, deputising when required in support of the Finance Director and liaising with the BakerHicks European business as part of the wider reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted, visible and accessible point of contact to senior personnel
- Challenge stakeholders where appropriate and offer insight into business profitability to drive future improved performance
- Ability to analyse and understand performance trend and develop and implement strategies to improve them
- Understand the value drivers of the business and develop the existing business reporting environment accordingly
- Identify inconsistencies within the functions and wider business; devise and implement continuous improvement plan
- Identify and manage commercial and financial risks and opportunities
- Ensure appropriate contingency management strategy is in place
- Ensure compliance with commercial contractual requirements
- Management of stakeholders without in-depth understanding of commercial and finance
- Own both management and statutory reporting requirements
- Leading effective team that is delivery focussed
- Establish a high level of credibility and develop robust working relationship with external (e.g. auditors) and internal stakeholders (e.g. Group)
Requirements
- Further education in either Commercial or Finance advantageous, e.g. accountancy or Quantity Surveyor (QS) qualification desirable
- Contract administration knowledge / experience advantageous
- Professional services business background beneficial
- Working knowledge of NEC3/4 valuable
