Description

Working with one of BakerHicks’ key clients in the Defence sector, as a principal mechanical process engineer you will have experience of working within the nuclear or defence sectors in the UK. You will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and ideally be chartered with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. You will have experience of process equipment and package management.

You’ll be part of an enthusiastic and committed team of Engineers and Designers working to deliver high quality output on projects.
As well as possessing excellent technical skills, client care and repeat business is crucial to BakerHicks success, so you’ll need to be able to develop and nurture relationships with our clients (both internal and external). 

Location is flexible on remote working or office with occasional visits to client site in Southern England.

 

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with users to understand manufacturing process and operational needs
  • Collate key information for equipment and packages including functions, performance criteria, materials of construction, physical dimensions, access requirements, service requirements, and environmental conditions
  • Assess materials and waste storage requirements
  • Develop and evaluate process equipment options and alternatives
  • Liaise with vendors and manage the delivery of vendor packages
  • Check deliverables produced by colleagues to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the design team to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions.
  • Input to the development of plant layout options

 

About You

  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering and a membership of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, ideally with Chartered Engineer Status
  • You will have existing SC or DV clearance
  • Experience in design and engineering in the nuclear or defence sectors
  • Experience in detailed design and package management
