Description

Baker Hicks provides a managed service for a major Defence Contractor’s Configuration Management function.
Based on the client’s sites, we support CAD, BIM, Surveying, Compliance, Data Analytics, Handover, and tooling with a team of approximately 70 people.

This PP&E CAD Engineer role will work as part of a team of Mechanical CAD Designers & Engineers utilising Autodesk Inventor, supporting a customer base of Manufacturing Engineers, Operational Facilities, Production Areas and/or Programmes across the company, in the provision of equipment that meets the needs of manufacturing processes within delegated areas of responsibility.

This role will initially be full-time on-site with the client, so you will ideally be located nearby or willing to commute daily. Once you are fully integrated into the team and project, there may be an opportunity to transition to a more flexible hybrid working arrangement.

 

Key Objectives

  • Design of equipment and/or provision of PP&E CAD Support to the Project Team utilising Autodesk Inventor software
  • Presentation of the design and/or CAD output at process and/or design reviews
  • Supporting the production of all Technical Product Specifications in support of the design (drawings, specifications etc)
  • Model management utilising specific Document Management Systems such as Autodesk Vault

 

Requirements

Qualifications & Technical Knowledge:

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or recognised formal training in mechanical engineering
  • Advanced working knowledge of CAD techniques, preferably Autodesk Inventor software, Teamcenter is also an advantage
  • Advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Techniques and Processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Hierarchical Assembly Data
  • Advanced knowledge of the Product Lifecycle Management of data (PLM)

Experience

  • Proven product design experience preferably in a production support area including the generation/modification of design documentation packages including supporting calculations and reports
  • Practical experience of machine tools, production activities and processes
  • Good knowledge of Pressure Systems and/or Piping Systems, Electrical Systems (EC&I) and cabling
  • Application of product design standards
  • Competent in the writing of Technical Reports and presenting technical information
