We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Environmental Advisor to join our team on the Harburn Framework, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental advice and guidance across all levels to minimize company risk.
  • Support development and implementation of environmental elements within the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Contribute to maintaining ISO14001 certification through document production and system updates.
  • Assist in shaping environmental strategy and action plans aligned with corporate goals.
  • Lead and participate in inspections, audits, and investigations; report findings and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental Manager to enhance IMS documentation and processes.
  • Monitor and review environmental performance to meet current and future business needs.
  • Support pre-contract and work-winning activities with environmental input.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits to ensure compliance with legislation and management plans.
  • Promote and share environmental best practices across the business unit.
  • Stay up to date with relevant environmental legislation and industry standards.
  • Engage with clients on environmental matters and advocate for best practice solutions.
  • Use company performance measurement tools to capture project and business unit data.
  • Deliver training to staff, operatives, and subcontractors to ensure legal compliance and procedural adoption.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment across projects, sites, or operational areas.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to motivate self and colleagues.
  • Excellent planning and time management; capable of handling multiple activities without compromising standards.
  • Proven ability to ensure standards and specifications are consistently met.
  • Collaborative mindset to contribute to project and operational performance.
  • Sound knowledge of construction practices and industry standards.
  • Specialist expertise in chosen field.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Practitioner-level member of IMEA (PIEMA), actively working toward chartered status.
  • Recognised internal auditing qualifications.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate strategy, values, and objectives
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and its implementation
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role

About the Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
