Role description:
As a Lead Commissioning Engineer you will be aligned to the Start Up Commissioning and Pre-Operations delivery team throughout the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations work scope for your assigned area throughout the lifecycle of the project. You will direct a team in the delivery of work and ensure activities are delivered in line with the established Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations processes.
You will collaborate with an internal multidisciplined project delivery team and interface with external stakeholders/vendors. You will lead the Commissioning Engineers through the project lifecycle to ensure safe and effective delivery of Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations work scope.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervision of a team delivering Start Up, Commissioning, and Pre-Operations work scope through the project lifecycle at various locations as required.
- Safe delivery of Start Up, Commissioning, and Pre-Operations activities to the required level of quality in line with the processes.
- Identification of resource requirements.
- Reviewing and reporting on work progress and performance, taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
- Planning, balancing and prioritizing team resources to support successful delivery to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide input into other project workstreams to ensure that start up, commissioning and pre-operational requirements are included and delivered i.e. Design, Safety Case, Procurement, Construction & Completions, Project Controls.
- Develop and execute delivery plans in line with the overall project strategies and schedules.
- Develop and ensure delivery of asset care arrangements.
- Identify relevant project risks and manage/mitigate as appropriate. This includes regular monitoring of the residual risks.
- Identification of faults and ability to propose and implement solutions through the Fault Observation Process (FOBs).
- Ensuring effective coordination between delivery teams and all stakeholders to enable safe delivery of work.
- Ensure training and experience is maintained in order to hold relevant appointments where necessary for project delivery e.g. Commissioning Appointments, Electrical Appointments, Mechanical Appointments etc.
- Ongoing coaching and development within the team.
- Use and promote Project Delivery Fundamentals and required organisational practices in the delivery of work.
Requirements:
- HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in a relevant technical subject or Incorporated Engineer status or relevant experience.
- Experience of leading and supervising an engineering or technical group with demonstrable evidence of successful delivery of work.
- Willing and able to travel on extended stays to various locations other than Sellafield Site in West Cumbria, the wider UK and, on occasion, overseas to meet demands of the Project delivery with flexible arrangements where possible.
- Computer literate (MS applications including Word, Excel) with evidence of producing test documentation and reports.
- Experience in fault finding within a technical, engineering or operational environment.
- Experience in setting to work of new systems or processes.
- Experience in producing Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations documentation.
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in relevant discipline or Chartered Engineer status and able to present qualification certification.
- Experience in leading/ Supervising delivery of Start-Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations work scope in a highly regulated environment.
- Project Management experience.
- Nuclear sector experience, including working within large scale projects.
