We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Head of Environment to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Ensure full adherence to all relevant industry regulations, standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and assess their impact on business operations, implementing necessary changes.
  • Lead internal audits and compliance reviews to maintain a robust governance framework.
  • Develop and implement clear strategic plans aligned with organisational goals and long‑term priorities.
  • Analyse performance data and market trends to inform decision‑making and future direction.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to embed strategic objectives across teams and projects.
  • Oversee planning and delivery schedules, ensuring all tasks, projects, and reporting obligations are completed on time.
  • Identify potential risks to timelines and implement proactive solutions to maintain momentum.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members to build capability, performance, and engagement.
  • Conduct regular check‑ins, performance reviews, and skills assessments to support professional growth.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working culture that encourages high-quality outcomes.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in all areas of environmental work.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Ability to deliver training.
  • Experience working within an infrastructure environment.

About the Rail Business Unit

Millions of people rely on Britain’s rail network to take them safely and efficiently across the country every day. Morgan Sindall helps this happen by providing renewed and enhanced rail infrastructure with the minimum of passenger disruption.

Our customers receive a multi-disciplined service covering electrification, power supply, tunnelling and a full range of civil engineering and building capabilities including structures, lineside infrastructure, and station enhancements. This is complemented by track and signalling works from our supply chain partners to provide a complete rail offering.

Our expertise is focused not only on effective delivery of projects within a railway environment, but also on minimising disruption for railway users through the adoption of innovative working practices and techniques. These include ‘live launch’ bridge construction, in which we can install bridges while allowing railways beneath to remain operational.

From landmark station refurbishment projects and platform extensions to tunnelling works and bridge launches, we have a record of delivering rail projects that are helping to provide a rail network fit for the 21st century.
