We are seeking a motivated and ambitious OHL Transmission Project Engineer to join our team on the Great Grid Upgrade with National Grid. You will contribute to the delivery of major overhead line transmission projects, ranging from refurbishment works to new build schemes, supporting a diverse portfolio of high‑profile initiatives. Role Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor, and lead OHL wiring works across MSI OHL projects.
- Develop crossing schedules and wiring methodologies to support safe and efficient delivery.
- Manage design interfaces and contribute to technical coordination with internal and external teams.
- Conduct RAMS reviews to ensure robust safety and operational controls.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring delivery to programme, quality, and safety standards.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and clear communication.
- Chair and participate in project meetings, providing updates, insights, and decision-making support.
- Plan and manage OHL resources to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Conduct setting-to-work activities, ensuring all teams understand scope, risks, and controls.
- Ensure full adherence to relevant health and safety legislation and organisational requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the client to support alignment, progress, and issue resolution.
- Complete quality checks and maintain accurate project records.
- Produce lookahead schedules to support project planning and delivery forecasting.
- Support the final handover process to the client, ensuring all documentation and deliverables are completed to the required standard.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an OHL Site or Project Engineer role
- Proven experience in delivering OHL project elements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors effectively.
- Strong technical understanding of OHL transmission methodologies
- Experience in setting-to-work processes
- Good knowledge of relevant safety legislation and its application within OHL transmission

About the Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
