We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the GGP Core Service team across commercial, procurement, and finance activities. As the programme progresses into the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, the role will transition to providing direct commercial support to GGP project delivery, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant contract administration.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major long‑term programme that will shape the UK’s future energy infrastructure. Working as part of the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) with National Grid, you will join a collaborative and resolute team delivering a diverse portfolio of projects over the next decade.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial delivery within a designated geographic area.
  • Produce timely commercial reports, forecasts, and advice to support decision‑making.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, administration, and final accounts.
  • Support and guide junior commercial staff.
  • Deliver against internal and external commercial performance targets.
  • Build effective relationships with project stakeholders, including the client’s commercial team.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all commercial data and reporting.
  • Identify and escalate commercial risks or issues to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with approved processes, procedures, and project plans.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of quantity surveying practices.
  • Use finance systems such as COINS to support financial controls.
  • Manage upstream and downstream change control processes.
  • Oversee accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and risk management.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (or an equivalent commercially related discipline), with progression toward professional membership such as RICS or CIOB.
  • Experience using Contract Management Systems (e.g., CEMAR, Fast Draft).
  • Supervisory or management experience within a project commercial team.
  • Essential experience with NEC3 or NEC4 forms of contract.
  • 5–10 years’ relevant commercial experience.
  • Ability to manage a small team while reporting to a senior leader for strategic and management guidance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a delivery-focused mindset,
  • Experience within energy-related environments.

About the Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
