Description

We are looking for a well-rounded Highway Engineer with experience delivering highways and civil engineering design projects. This role suits someone ready to progress toward Chartered or Incorporated status and contribute to the growth of our highways portfolio.

 

You will deliver high-quality design outputs across small to medium projects and defined work packages on larger schemes, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and building strong client relationships.

 

BakerHicks will support your development through structured CPD, meaningful project exposure, and a strong wellbeing and safety culture.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Design and deliver highways and civil engineering works in line with current standards and regulations
  • Manage design packages, ensuring time, cost, and quality objectives are met
  • Produce drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, buildable solutions
  • Support and mentor early-career engineers

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Working toward Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering highways and civil engineering designs
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD
  • Drainage and SuDS design experience (InfoWorks / MicroDrainage)
  • Knowledge of key UK highways and active travel standards
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Eligible for UK security clearance and full UK driving licence
