We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Civils Site Engineer to join our Energy team, supporting the construction of a new substation at Bryncir as part of the PTNO project on the National Grid GGP Framework. You will play a key role in delivering a range of exciting and impactful schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to grow their technical expertise, broaden their responsibilities, and progress within a dynamic and supportive project team.
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for dimensional control, material procurement, and material reconciliations.
- Set out engineering and building works across company sites.
- Ensure and record quality control per specifications.
- Promote exacting standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Plan, schedule, and organise site work to meet deadlines.
- Supervise site labour and subcontractors to meet customer expectations.
- Oversee site safety and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and submit completion paperwork for client approval.
- Comply with company health, safety, and environmental systems.
- Take care of personal and team health and safety.
- Uphold company quality standards.
- Manage and coordinate digital engineering data.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects, ideally including EHV substation or similar controlled environment works.
- Proven competence in dimensional control.
- Experience delivering material reconciliations for FRC, ducting, and drainage activities.
- Industry recognised qualification (HND, HNC, or BEng).
- Valid CSCS card and five day safety certification.
- Strong setting out and levelling skills with solid knowledge of construction methods, safety standards, and regulations.
- Confident in setting out earthworks and structural works.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of bills of quantities.

About the Energy Business Unit
We have experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
